Citrus Celebration: Get a little zest in the diet during the two-month Citrus Celebration organized by Limehouse Produce. Southern Fried Chicken Challenge: If you have a hankering for fried chicken, then don’t miss the first-ever Southern Fried Chicken Challenge set for Jan. 14 at The Grove at Patriot’s Point. More than 20 local vendors will be cooking up their recipes, and patrons get to taste and then vote on their favorite. Tickets range from $20 to $75 per person.

Truffles and Hazelnuts Dinner at 492: If you have not had the chance to check out what newly appointed chef Josh Keeler is doing at 492, the Truffles & Hazelnut dinner on Jan. 12 might be a good time to do so. Keeler is welcoming chef Carlo Zarri from Cortemilia, Italy, for a six-course dinner paired with Piedmontese truffles and hazelnuts. The dinner starts at 6 p.m., and is $110 per person including wine pairings and a welcome cocktail.

Braise and Brew Dinner: Enjoy a dinner of braised meats and vegetables paired with seasonal beers from Holy City Brewing at the Pavilion at Middleton Place on Jan. 21. The Braise & Brew Dinner is $85 per person and features entertainment by Graham Whorley.

All of the tips will benefit METAvivor Research and Support, a cancer research company fighting stage 4 metastic breast cancer.

Stems & Skins Anniversary: It has been a great year for Stems & Skins, and it is celebrating its anniversary in style on Jan. 22. Guest chef Reid Henninger from Edmund’s Oast will be serving pasta and other small treats from an à la carte menu along with delicious paired wines from 5 to 9 p.m.

Food Truck Festival: On Jan. 28, Park Circle will serve host to the sixth annual Food Truck Festival. This event has become the largest food truck event in the southeast, hosting 30 trucks and five craft beer and wine bars. Admission is free and includes local and regional music from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Openings

Café Gibbes: The Gibbes Museum of Art opened its first café — a casual eatery offering artisan sandwiches, soups, and salads along with other beverages and a wine bar. Highlights include a gyro of the day, butcher board, smoked South Carolina whitefish salad, and a smoked Carolina duck club.

Paw Paw Southern Plates: Transforming a former slushy bar, the owners of Paw Paw Southern Plates are offering sharable plates including fluffy hushpuppies, coal-roasted potato gnocchi, wood-grilled heritage quail, and more.

Pounce Cat Café: The South’s first cat café has opened with Pounce Cat Café. Visit for pastries, coffee, and tea, and leave with an adopted kitten or cat. Or if just looking for a fill of being around the furry pets, that too is an option.
